By now you should know that Dude LOVES sounds cards.
Not too long ago, a graduation card arrived from his aunt and uncle who live in Virginia. Written on the front is, “You graduated!” On the inside, “Hallelujah!”
When you open the card, it is supposed to play a clip from the Hallelujah Chorus by Handel. Unfortunately, by the time it arrived at our house, the sound part was broken.
Dude opened and closed the card a few times, looking both confused and frustrated.
Then he turned to our dad and sang, “Haaaaa-lle-lujah! Haaaaa-lle-lujah! Hallelujah! Hallelujah!”
Let me be clear. Dude hadn’t turned over the card to see “Hallelujah Chorus by Handel” written on the back. Even if he had, I’m not sure he knows who Handel is. He saw the word “Hallelujah,” flipped through the massive music library that is his brain, and settled on the song he (apparently) associated with that word. I don’t even know the last time Dude would have heard the Hallelujah Chorus, but apparently it is very much filed away in his brain.
Oh and he sang it in the correct key too. You know, since he has perfect pitch and everything.
